WPS is a software-only location technology that uses nearby Wi-Fi access points to calculate the location of Wi-Fi-enabled devices. Skyhook has developed a massive database of the known location of tens of millions of access points across North America, Europe, and Asia. WPS can determine location almost instantly with 20-30 meter accuracy in urban areas and indoors, environments where traditional positioning technologies struggle most.
